Interested in trying your hand at the famous barramundi fishing of the Northern Territory? But also love the variety of blue water fishing with bottom dwellers, pelagic fish and sports fish? Then this charter is perfect for you with 3 Nights Barra Fishing, a night off in Darwin, and then 3 Nights Reef Fishing.
With something for everyone, this 6 Night Charter is the ultimate in Northern Territory Fishing. Available for up to 6 people, we spend the first 3 nights on the 46 foot boat Northern Exile targeting blue water and sport fishing species. We return to Darwin where you have a night and day to explore and relax before departing for another 3 days / 4 nights. For these next 3 days we use Northern Exile as a mothership, towing tenders in which to fish the creeks and rivers for the elusive and infamous barramundi.
Your blue water fishing destination will depend on your interests, tides, weather conditions and the time of year, but may include:
We depart at 6pm, steaming out to one of these remote destinations whilst you enjoy sunset nibbles and dinner. Most of our travel is done in the first night; by the early hours of the morning your skipper will have you on the fishing spots ready to target a number of bottom fish, pelagic fish and sport fish. For the next three days we move around the reefs, shoals, drop offs and islands fishing for Spanish mackerel, coral trout, red emperor, black jewfish, golden and tricky snapper, tuna, giant trevally, queenfish and if you're lucky - marlin and sailfish! We often hook up over 30 species of fish, some less common species being mac tuna, golden spotted cod, rankin cod, spangled emperor, long nosed emperor, red bass and moari bass.
We return to Darwin 3 days later at approximately 6pm. You have this night and the majority of the next day free to explore and enjoy the thriving tropical capital city of the Northern Territory. You will need to organise your own accommodation for the night and transfers to and from your accommodation. Our departure point, the Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal, is a 5 minute taxi ride from Darwin City centre where the majority of hotels are situated.
The next day we once again depart at 6pm, this time with tenders in tow ready to chase barramundi. Our destination will depend on where the fish are biting and may include:
Arriving in time for you to be in the tenders at first light, your fishing guides will give you the best chance to hook up a barra. We'll use Northern Exile as a mothership and each day you'll head into the rivers, creeks and estuaries. You'll love the thrill of the hard fighting barramundi and also the amazing NT wildlife with crocodiles, wetland birds, goannas and more.
Each night you'll enjoy returning to Northern Exile for a shower, sunset nibbles, dinner and a comfortable night sleep. After a full 3 days of barra fishing, we depart the river mouth and most of the night arriving back to Darwin early the next morning.
We only take group bookings for our barramundi charters. In order to provide the best possible service and best fishing experience, Fish Darwin limit group size to 6 people. Please telephone or email us for further information including availability of departure dates, tides, weather and seasonal conditions and fishing advice.
