Using Northern Exile as a mothership and towing estuary fishing tenders, we give you the best chance to hook the exciting and infamous barramundi. We can access remote river mouths from the Daly River to the south west of Darwin to the Mini Mini System in Arnhem Land. This allows us to fish places inaccessible by land and thus rarely fished. Your experienced barramundi guides will assist in making this a barramundi fishing adventure not to be missed!
Departing at 6pm from Cullen Bay, just 5 minutes from Darwin City, you'll enjoy sunset nibbles and dinner on board mothership Northern Exile as we steam to the river mouth of choice towing tenders. Our destination depends on a number of factors including weather, tides, your interest and which rivers have been most active. This is where you get the added advantage of local knowledge and experience. Rivers and estuaries may include but are not limited to:
You can get a few hours sleep before we arrive at the river mouth and anchor the mothership ready for a day full of barramundi fishing action. Your guides will get your tenders ready for fishing whilst you enjoy an early morning breakfast. At daybreak its time to head into the rivers, creeks and estuaries to chase that elusive metre long barra!
You'll spend your days fishing for barramundi and other estuary species such as threadfin salmon, blue salmon, mangrove jack, saratoga and golden snapper. At the end of your day you'll appreciate the comfort of the 46 foot mothership. Sit back on deckchairs with drink in hand after a cleansing fresh water shower and watch the sunset whilst feasting on nibbles and a delicious dinner freshly prepared by your crew.
After a full days fishing on the 3rd day, we pack up the tenders, start processing the fish and head for Darwin, travelling most of the night and arriving back early the next morning.
For our barramundi safaris we take group bookings only. In order to provide the best possible service and best fishing experience, Fish Darwin limit group size to 6 people on barramundi safaris. Please telephone or email us for further information including availability of departure dates, tides, weather and seasonal conditions and fishing advice.
